Dear Parents, |
It’s good to have the children back fit and healthy for a new term. Hopefully, we have all recovered from the frenzy of last term’s pantomimes and the frolics of the Christmas holidays! |

Numeracy and Literacy |
The children will continue to go to Mr Walker for Numeracy. |
Science & IT |
The first topic the children will cover is ‘Materials’ where they will be looking into their properties and how they can be separated and changed. With this in mind, I am hoping to arrange a morning’s visit to Pizza Express in Ely. The children will not only make their own pizzas (and see how materials can change,) but they will also learn about the origins of the various ingredients and cover numeracy skills too. |
RE & PSHE |
In RE the children will be studying the beliefs and traditions of Buddhism. |
History |
Some Literacy targets will be reinforced in History where we will be continuing to study the Tudor dynasty. |
The children will continue to work on mapping skills before moving on to studying world and local environmental issues. |
Art/DT/Music |
Art and DT are linked fairly closely this term, as skills are developed in mixed media and sculpture. In Music, we will be listening to the particular style and form of Renaissance composition, (Tudors). They will also be learning to read musical notation and will hopefully perform for you a piece of music of African origin at the Mothering Sunday Assembly (Wednesday 27th February). |
PE/Games |
The lessons will continue on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please ensure that your child’s shorts, T-shirt and trainers and plimsolls are clearly marked. |
In the interest of a child’s safety, jewellery (including earrings) and watches may not be worn during PE/ Games lessons. Long hair should be tied back. |

Homework |
Please help your child by listening to them read and discussing what they have read. Support them constructively with their homework and encourage them to complete it neatly and to the best of their ability. |
